Tuition OfferedTuition Healing Yoga (Peterborough) offers the following services, click on the bullet point below for further details:
How it works Individual Tuition Individual tuition is aimed at developing a practice for you in line with your own personal needs and goals. This is the traditional way in which yoga was taught and it remains the most effective form of tuition as it honours the unique identity of each individual. Think of it as giving you a bespoke tailored suit rather than an off the peg garment that doesn’t quite fit! You will be asked to fill in a detailed initial questionnaire which covers your health, lifestyle and personal goals. You will then have a 30 minute assessment to discuss this more fully and to assess your posture and breathing ready for beginning practice. All information given is kept confidential. You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing and at this session you will be advised of any yoga equipment necessary for your practice. At the first practice session you will be taught a practice for you to take home and work with regularly until the next meeting when we will review, adapt or develop your practice as appropriate. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and to give your insights into the effectiveness of the practice. Yoga is about gradually changing habits and patterns in the body, mind and breath and so you are asked to commit yourself to a minimum of 4 sessions over a 3 month period to give the practice time to work. Lots of students find the personal and spiritual development that yoga practice offers so helpful that they continue to come for many years! Mentoring offers a safe confidential space to discuss teaching and personal issues as well as to assist the teacher with deepening their yoga practice and in developing a relationship to yoga philosophy in the practical aspects of their life. Yoga Philosphy Study Study of the ancient philosophical texts can be undertaken as an individual or in groups. It can be done through reading, discussion and chanting as well as through a yoga practice to help deepen understanding of the texts. A regular study group takes place monthly on Friday evenings. Helena is willing to teach to other small groups by arrangement. Yoga and Spiritual Direction for Christians Helena offers space for people to explore their prayer life and spirituality. She has a lot of experience of working with people who have lost their faith or who are disenchanted by church. She offers an open heart and mind to all those who are seeking and is adept at helping people to find a prayer life that is enriching. Labyrinth Walking Labyrinth walking is an ancient form of meditation. Helena has a large canvas labyrinth on which to guide others in this practice. Generally schools, churches, yoga groups and others book her to lead a workshop but from time to time she offers labyrinth walks within her yoga workshops. Seminars Seminars and talks can be tailored to the needs of your yoga groups or your organisation. Seminars are offered to yoga teachers and students as well as to other groups such as doctors, physiotherapists, counsellors, nurses etc.
Yoga is taught in schools by arrangement. It is often taught as part of the emotional intelligence curriculum. Teachers can also be taught yoga techniques to help their pupils to become calmer and more focussed.
Outside schools yoga is taught to children on a one to one basis only. No assessment is needed apart from a talk with the parent on the telephone beforehand.
